This is a step-by-step guide on how to get a Tax Identification Number (TIN) ID online using the Online Registration and Update System (ORUS). The ORUS system was implemented under Republic Act No. 11976, also known as the Ease of Paying Taxes Law, to simplify tax compliance for individuals.
Step 1: Create an ORUS Account
- Visit the ORUS website: ORUS.BIR.GOV.PH
- Click the “New Registration”.
- Select between New Registration as a Non – Individual or as an individual
- Read and prepare the requirements for each registration. (Philippine List of Valid ID’s)
- Click Create Account and Agree the ORUS Terms of Services and User agreement.
- Register as New taxpayer and select without existing TIN.
Step 2: Fill Up the Registration Form
- Choose your user type:
- Foreigner needing a TIN: Select “Get TIN for Foreign National”.
- Professional: Select “Register as Professional” (e.g., engineer, doctor, lawyer).
- Business Owner: Select “Register as Business Owner” (e.g., online seller, retailer, manufacturer).
- Combination of Professional and Business Owner: Select the fourth option.
- Unemployed: Select the fifth option.
- EO 98: Select this option if you need a TIN for transactions with government agencies, opening a bank account, or selling land with capital gains.
- OFW/OCW: Select the last option.
- Fill out the required information including active email.
- Create password and confirm password. ( for online login purposes)
Step 3: Email Confirmation
- Check your email for a confirmation message. You will have 24 hours to verify your account.
- Click verify account in your email and once successful you will be ask to log in to continue.
Step 4: Log In to Your Account
- Go to ORUS.BIR.GOV.PH and log in using the email and password you registered
- The first time you log in, you may be ask to complete additional profile information. (Tax information, Residence Address and Purpose of TIN application.)
- Click “New Registration” then choose “as an individual or non-individual” (same choice in step 1). Scroll down and click “fill up registration form”.
- Finish all the required information and upload documents.
- Review all the information and click “Submit Application”.
Step 5: Confirmation and TIN Receipt
- Check your email for a confirmation message.
- Wait for an email from the BIR with the subject “VIR ORUS Form 1904 Approved”.
Important Notes
- The minimum processing time for a TIN ID is 3 days.
- If you haven’t received your TIN ID after 3 days, check your spam folder.
- If you still haven’t received it after 5 days, review your transaction history for any incorrect information.
- If there are no errors and you haven’t received a confirmation email, you can create a new registration.
- If your application is persistently not approved, you can use the e-appointment system to walk-in to your RDO for TIN application.
