Application for BIR TIN ID Online using ORUS


This is a step-by-step guide on How to get a Tax Identification Number (TIN) ID online using the Online Registration and Update System (ORUS). The ORUS system was implemented under Republic Act No. 11976, also known as the Ease of Paying Taxes Law, to simplify tax compliance for individuals.

Step 1: Create an ORUS Account

First, create an ORUS account

  • Visit the ORUS website: ORUS.BIR.GOV.PH
  • Click the “New Registration”.
  • Select between New Registration as a Non–Individual or as an Individual.
  • Read and prepare the requirements for each registration. (See the Philippine List of Valid IDs)
  • Click “Create Account” and agree to the ORUS Terms of Services and User Agreement.
  • Register as a new taxpayer and select “Without existing TIN”.
  • Create your BIR Taxpayer Account.

Step 2: Fill Up the Registration Form

  • Choose your user type:
    • Foreigner needing a TIN: Select “Get TIN for Foreign National”.
    • Professional: Select “Register as Professional” (e.g., engineer, doctor, lawyer).
    • Business Owner: Select “Register as Business Owner” (e.g., online seller, retailer, manufacturer).
    • Combination of Professional and Business Owner: Select the fourth option.
    • Unemployed: Select the fifth option.
    • EO 98: For transactions with government agencies, bank accounts, or selling land.
    • OFW/OCW: Select the last option.
  • Fill out all required information including your active email.
  • Create and confirm your password (for login purposes).

Step 3: Email Confirmation

  • Check your email for a confirmation message.
  • You have 24 hours to verify your account.
  • Click the verification link in your email.
  • Once verified, you will be prompted to log in to continue and (Proceed to step 4).

Step 4: Log In to Your Account

  • Go to ORUS.BIR.GOV.PH and log in using your registered email and password.
  • Upon first login, complete your profile information (tax info, address, purpose of TIN).
  • Click “New Registration” again, then select “Individual” or “Non-Individual”.
  • Scroll down and click “Fill Up Registration Form”.
  • Finish all required fields and upload the necessary documents.
  • Review your application and click “Submit Application”.

Step 5: Confirmation and TIN Receipt

  • Check your email for a confirmation message.
  • Wait for an email from BIR with the subject: “VIR ORUS Form 1904 Approved”.

Important Notes

  • The minimum processing time for a TIN ID is 3 days.
  • If not received after 3 days, check your spam folder.
  • If still unavailable after 5 days, review your submitted information.
  • If no errors are found but there’s no response, you may re-apply.
  • If persistent issues occur, set an appointment and walk in at your RDO for assistance.
